Each sculpture is carved directly into graphite pencil lead, a deliberately unstable medium that cannot be replicated or restored, and is approached as a sculptural practice rather than a technical exercise. What remains is not a demonstration of scale, but a record of time, restraint, and precision under risk.

Agony and Ectasy Micro Pencil Carving by Cindy Chinn

This body of work is executed at a scale where structural failure is constant and irreversible.
Each sculpture is carved without the possibility of correction, reproduction, or restoration.
Survival is the exception, not the expectation.

Origins
The first work at this scale established the constraints that continue to define the series. What began as a single experiment became a sustained practice centered on risk, endurance, and precision under permanent loss.
