For the first time, this exhibition brings together the full range of Nebraska artist Cindy Chinn’s work, from intricate pencil micro-sculptures to reclaimed-material sculpture, painting, glass, ceramics, and large-scale sculpture. Through remarkable technical skill, curiosity, and imagination, Cindy transforms ordinary materials and invites viewers to see the familiar in entirely new ways.

Paintings
The Journey Series: We’re all made of stories. Big stories. Small stories. Unbelievable stories. They’re mostly made of the journeys we take. We think about them all the time: those memories and experiences that make us who we are. In my Journey Series, I explore story fragments, each one a canvas describing some of the lives around us.
Micro Carvings
I transform the familiar form of an ordinary pencil into intricate miniature sculptures, using scale to invite a closer look. Working under magnification, I explore how much detail, narrative, and emotion can exist within something so small.
Repurposed Materials
I transform discarded and forgotten materials into sculptural works that give them new purpose and character. From expressive chimpanzees to ravens and the Phoenix, each piece celebrates the history and imperfections of the materials while inviting viewers to see something familiar in an entirely new way.
Faces We Wear
My new series, Faces We Wear, explores identity, emotion, and the different selves we present to the world. Through expressive sculpted masks, I combine form, surface, color, and character to create faces that feel both theatrical and deeply human.
